Banlaw is only as good as its people and that’s why we invest great time and effort in human resource management, training and employee advancement. We currently employ approximately 700 people - the majority of whom are nationals of the countries of operation. We emphasis capacity building among West African staff because we believe it encourages adaptive decision making and greater efficiency. Our team is led by Richard Levack and Steve Jones who are both internationally-trained, multidisciplinary professionals.
Richard is an engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the industry, of which the majority has been spent in senior level positions in civil engineering and mining services firms in the UK, Australia and Africa. He has been in West Africa for the past 17 years.
Chief Financial Officer
Steve is a qualified accountant who has worked for twenty-five years in the mining industry, with many different size companies and in several countries. He worked in the Australian mining industry until 1998, when he accepted his first expat assignment in Ghana, and has been working overseas ever since. Steve has held positions as the Finance Manager or Commercial Manager with companies such as Newmont, Redback Mining, PMI, and Adamus Resources, where he has mainly specialized in project star-ups and systems development.
